Sweat gland suction – removing the root of the problem
Patients suffering from hyperhidrosis – i.e. excessive perspiration/sweating for which no real cause has been determined – often come to us at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at the end of a long ordeal. Sweat gland suction is a particularly gratifying method, since it may be able to solve the problem once and for all. FAQ on Sweat Gland Suction
Who may benefit from a sweat gland suction?
For all those who suffer from excessive perspiration at the armpits and who have not been able to solve this issue by external methods, a successful sweat gland suction performed at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery promises a palpable increase in the quality of life.
For treating other body areas such as the hands or the feet, this method is unfortunately not yet appropriate.
We will be happy to advise you in detail about which possibilities exist in your particular case. Please feel free to contact us about this.
How do we perform a sweat gland suction?
We at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery conduct the sweat gland suction under local anaesthesia. At first, similar to liposuction, a tumescent solution – i.e. a diluted local anaesthetic – will be injected underneath the armpit skin. This causes the tissue to swell. After a short moment during which the solution can work its effect, we will extract the sweat glands from the layer directly underneath the skin by means of thin hollow needles (cannulas). The injection point necessary for the sweat gland suction will later be hardly visible at all. We at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery pay particular attention to performing the suction so closely underneath the skin that the sweat glands get extracted completely while not damaging the skin.
What is important following a sweat gland suction?
You should plan for two days of rest. After the sweat gland suction, small haematomas and swelling may occur, as well as a temporary numbness of the skin. After removing the dressings at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the skin in the armpit will be treated with a special healing ointment. Heavy physical work, exercise and sports are taboo for 3–4 weeks after the sweat gland suction.
We will inform you comprehensively in a detailed personal consultation about any potential risks as well as how we will proceed with our treatment in your individual case. Please feel free to contact us about this.
