Covering what’s lying bare
Some women find that their outer labia (labia majora) are rather small compared to their inner labia (labia minora). This may have genetic reasons or simply be a matter of appearance due to lax skin (e.g. as a result of aging or giving birth). If the outer labia no longer cover the inner labia, this bothers many women – their inner labia and vagina are lying bare, as it were.
This will often lead to pronounced irritation and painful rashes in this area. But also in terms of looks, many women feel impaired by too small outer labia. This may even lead to pronounced psychological strain with strongly limiting effects in their daily activities.
A labia enlargement performed at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery can give patients back a new feeling of well-being and may lastingly correct aesthetic blemishes.

FAQ on Labia Enlargement
Who may benefit from a labia enlargement?
Women who don’t feel at ease in their body because of their intimate anatomy and thus are shy about going to the sauna or having sex, may have their outer labia enlarged by means of fat transfer.
This treatment method has also proven useful for other body zones, such as for wrinkle treatment. The advantage of labia enlargement by fat transfer: since the body’s own material is being used, there will as a rule be no allergic reactions, and most of the fat cells will remain permanently in the tissue.
How do we conduct a labia enlargement?
The labia enlargement will be conducted at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in two steps: During the first step, fat from appropriate body parts (buttocks, hips, or abdomen) will be extracted via fine hollow needles (cannulas) under general anaesthesia. This first treatment step corresponds to a small liposuction like the one used for modelling the said problem zones. The collected fat cells are cleansed and processed and are then ready for being injected.
In a second step, at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, a small part of the body’s own processed fat is injected directly underneath the outer skin of the outer labia. This only calls for local anaesthesia. Since a certain part of the body’s own fat cells gets reabsorbed, it may be necessary to apply several injections at intervals of a few weeks each in order to attain the desired size. But often, only two sessions are sufficient to achieve an optimal labia enlargement result.
Even if over the course of time more fat cells should be reabsorbed, calling for additional injections, these can be administered without any problem. After all, only small amounts of fat are required each time.
What is important following a labia enlargement?
The place where the fat cells have been removed must be protected for some time by wearing a compression bandage or special compression underwear. Furthermore, it is important to refrain from doing any sports, sunbathing, going to the solarium or a sauna or taking a hot bath for about six weeks following the labia enlargement. Alcohol and nicotine are also detrimental to the healing process.
The fat cell injection is less physically demanding than the liposuction. Slight swelling and haematomas may occur temporarily. Of course, you should rest and take it easy for a while; it is recommendable to live several weeks without any sports and without having sex in order to promote the healing of the fat cells in their new position.
