Smooth Brow Instead of Worry Lines
Over time, when the skin is losing its resilience, the eyebrows will lower as a result of gravity acting upon them, moving them towards the eyelids. The facial muscles try to counteract this, leading to an increased amount of forehead lines – a forehead lift may work against this.
Worry lines will make the face look tired, grouchy or sad, even though you may not feel this way at all – here, too, a forehead lift performed at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery may help.
A forehead lift will smoothen the forehead and lift the eyebrows, making the eyes appear larger, and the face more lively and more joyful.

FAQ on Forehead Lifting
Who may benefit from a forehead lift?
If the skin of the upper third of your face has lost some of its resilience, the face may take on an expression which is not in tune with how you really feel. A forehead lift may help you regain a more awake and fresher look which is in better harmony with your inner feelings.
Our team at Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery will be happy to advise you in detail about which possibilities exist in your particular case. Please feel free to contact us about this.
How do we conduct the forehead lift?
An endoscopic forehead lift is a small operation with regard to the surgical effort involved.
The forehead lift is conducted with local anaesthesia and lasts one to one and a half hours. We at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery use the "keyhole technique" for our operation. For this, three to five short incisions are made in the area above the hairline. From there, a miniature camera – the endoscope – is inserted. This allows the surgeon to enlarge the image of where the operation is conducted and to carefully and gently tension the eyebrows a little bit further up.
In addition, we at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery are capable of lessening the effect of individual muscles, thus smoothing pronounced frown wrinkles (glabella wrinkles) and horizontal wrinkles.
Finally, the skin is fastened to the skull. The incisions are closed and a head dressing is applied which should be worn for two days.
What is important following a forehead lift?
We recommend a stay at the Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for 1–2 days. During the first week, swelling in the forehead area and around the upper eyelids is normal. Also, the forehead skin may temporarily feel numb for several weeks. For up to six weeks after the forehead lift, you should refrain from doing any sports and not go to a sauna or solarium.
We will inform you comprehensively in a detailed personal consultation about how we proceed with the forehead lift in your individual case. Please feel free to contact us about this.
What is a forehead lift?
The forehead lift or brow lift is a surgical operation during which only the upper part of the face is being tensioned, and the eyebrows are slightly lifted. In this way, sagging eyebrows can be properly repositioned, and pronounced forehead wrinkles can be corrected. An incision is made at the hairline, so that no visible scars will remain. For a long-lasting result, sufficiently tightening the eyebrows on both sides of the face is particularly important.
Which forehead lift methods are there?
On principle, there are two operation methods to perform a forehead lift. The classic method places an incision above the hairline horizontally across the skull. Along this incision, the skin is separated from the underlying tissue, then moved to the desired position and fixated there by means of sutures. In some cases, pronounced vertical folds on the forehead can be corrected better using the classical method. If, however, the forehead tightening is performed using an endoscope, a few small skin incisions will suffice.
What is important before a forehead lift?
Blood-thinning medication should be discontinued before the operation because they interfere with blood coagulation. Smoking should be kept to a minimum for about 6 weeks before and after the operation in order to avoid risks. You should not take any nutritional supplements for at least 2 weeks before and after the treatment.
How long will the result of a forehead lift last?
The rejuvenating effect of a forehead lift will last about 5 to 10 years. How long exactly the tightening will last also depends on your individual skin structure and your lifestyle: prolonged exposure to sunlight and nicotine consumption may result in faster reappearance of wrinkles. Should you not be happy with the result any more, this operation may be repeated if needed.
What are the risks connected with a forehead lift?
The normal surgical after-effects of a forehead lift comprise slight swelling and haematomas occurring about 1–2 weeks after the operation. The motoric facial nerves may be temporarily dampened; this is completely normal following a forehead lift and will disappear on its own. Occasionally, there may be a numb feeling on the forehead. Beside the risks of an eyebrow lift, there may also be general surgical risks such as infections, wound healing disorders and bleeding. That’s why a competent surgical performance is a precondition for minimising any risks.
How much does a forehead lift in Nuremberg cost?
The costs for a forehead tightening depend on your individual skin situation and the desired degree of tensioning. As a rule, costs start at 6,500 €. After an initial consultation at our Nürnberger Klinik for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we will be able to inform you precisely about the costs of a forehead lift in your individual case.
